Client:
Imperial County
Project Description:
The California Wasteway Bridge is located at Winterhaven Drive over the California Wasteway (which is also known as the Yuma Main Canal Wasteway) and is adjacent to, and immediately north of the Fourth Avenue/Interstate 8 interchange. The California Wasteway Bridge is located approximately 96.7 miles east of the San Diego County Line and 0.2 mile north of the California-Arizona border in the County of Imperial. The bridge number is 58C-0094.

The California Wasteway Bridge Seismic Retrofit Strategy Project includes evaluation of the existing bridge for seismic deficiencies and evaluation of various retrofit options. WRECO conducted a project site visit, reviewed stream flow data obtained from gagging stations or public agencies, estimated stream peak flows, performed hydraulic analysis and scour assessments during peak flows using both HEC-RAS and methods described in HEC-18 for the existing bridge condition and prepared a technical memorandum summarizing the results of the studies.

Key Tasks:
Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analyses, Scour Analysis, and Existing Structure Evaluation Memorandum
