Project Description:
The Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) District is proposing the construction of passenger rail service along a 70-mile existing rail corridor, which commences from Cloverdale in Sonoma County, California and terminates near a ferry terminal in Larkspur, Marin County, California.

The project consists of three major bridges: Gallinas Creek Bridge located at in the City of San Rafael, Petaluma River Bridge (Haystack Bridge) located in the City of Petaluma and Russian River Bridge located in the City of Healdsburg. The Petaluma River Bridge and Russian River Bridge are both under tidal influence. The design of freeboard of both bridges needs to take into account the project sea level rise.

As part of the Project Team, WRECO prepared the Bridge Design Hydraulic Study Reports for these bridges to discuss the hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and results of the existing and proposed SMART bridges.
