Client:
Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Project Description:
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) proposed to replace the wires on its existing Palermo-Colgate-Rio Oso 230kV tower line to maintain service reliability, meet increasing electric load demands, and allow development of renewable resources in the Sacramento Valley. The project spanned over 54 miles through Butte, Sutter and Yuba counties, passing through many different terrains such as foothills, farmland, grassland and wetlands.

As part of the Project Team, WRECO provided construction monitoring services for this project, most specifically to protect the Giant Garter Snake (GGS), a federally threatened species which resides in wetlands, irrigation ditches and rice fields. WRECO's work involved inspecting construction sites prior to construction and throughout the day for the presence of GGS, identifying any snakes encountered, ensuring steps were taken to minimize impacts to GGS and the environment at large, and preparing daily reports. WRECO also participated in Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for this project.
