Project Description:
Alameda Creek runs through Niles Canyon adjacent to State Route 84. WRECO was tasked to prepare hydraulic analysis and geomorphic assessment of Alameda Creek to assess the potential project floodplain impacts and aquatic environment. The project focuses on guiding future actions aimed at mitigating fishery habitat impact on Alameda Creek by providing a detailed description of existing conditions and development of preliminary recommendations.

WRECO performed a geomorphic assessment and sediment mapping. Existing channel meanders, pool-riffle sequences, creek bed material, bank conditions, and erodibility were documented. Sediment samples were sent to a certified soil laboratory for sediment gradation.

WRECO is also performing hydraulic modeling, a fishery habitat impacts assessment, and a sediment incipient motion analysis for Alameda Creek in Niles Canyon.
